In Black`s Law, one of the toughest and brightest criminal defense lawyers in the United States shows us the life and death battles that take place every day in our criminal courts. This book takes us behind the scenes of four difficult and dangerous cases to discover the legal strategies, unfettered tactics, and courtroom psychology that Roy Black used to ensure his clients received all the protections promised by law. Black demonstrates in captivating detail how a defense attorney must investigate criminal cases by searching for evidence and preparing for trial. (It`s like preparing for war.) It shows us how the principles of law, cross-examination and evidence – as well as careful jury selection and skillful use of experts – can create a level playing field to counter the enormous resources available to state and federal prosecutors. Black`s law clearly shows the crucial role that criminal defense lawyers play in upholding the fundamental right to a fair trial for all.
